Whelps hunt in roving packs, savaging the wilderness of anything remotely edible. Remarkably intelligent, many whelps hover around the outskirts of dwarven and freyjan civilizations, feeding off scraps, and occasionally allowing themselves to become partially domesticated in return for regular feedings.

Gameplay
The nether whelp maintain many of the characteristics of the explore Dragonback Peak Whelps, in particular their penchant to Knockdown Heroes, and then use the Pile-on ability to gain an additional +1B STR against knocked down foes.
However, all the nether drakes are particularly attuned to the rising power of the Dark Consul, and as the Consul's strength grows, so too does the drakes. This is represented through the ability Mighty. This new ability makes use of 2nd Edition's mighty monster chart, granting the Nether Drakes double the bonuses granted by the chart. That's right—Double. Needless to say, nether drakes can quickly become a devastating foe, one that Heroes cannot ignore. Oh, and the Wyrmling can use Bane Burst to inflict the status effect Bane forcing Heroes to discard the highest result rolled when making a defense roll.....ouch.
