The ragged edge of our world and the void beyond, where the realms of light give way to the realms of night, is called the Maw.

The sulfurous and steamy sea between the Heralds and the void is most commonly named the Scalding Sea.

Next comes the line of the Grim Heralds, always exactly 800 yards from the Maw.

Finally, the blighted, monster-haunted waters and lands that stretch exactly 800 yards beyond the Grim Heralds, whereupon Crystalia’s life overpowers the Nether Realm’s corruption, is called the Threshold.

These regions each present their own dangers, from warped and alien life to unpredictable magical disruptions, grotesque storms, and spiritual upheavals that reduce hardened soldiers to inconsolable sobbing or drive veteran ship crews to mass suicide.
