
Now that we've had a few lovely pictures, it's time for a little bit of crunch. Let's talk about how Citrine and Amethyst Dice function in the game.
Citrine and Amethyst Dice represent a significant upgrade in power in your games of Super Dungeon. Just look at these faces:
Citrine: 2, 2, 3, 4, 5, Light
Amethyst: 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, Shadow
That's some serious star rolling power right there! Naturally, the first question is, "what are Light and Shadow?"
Whenever Light is rolled the model chooses one other die's result that was rolled and doubles it. Did your emerald die roll a 4? Now it's an 8! Did a sapphire die roll a heart? Take 2 instead! This let's you really get extraordinary numbers to get over even the toughest challenge. Even better when combined with Legend's new critical hit mechanic, you'll be able to inflict even more damage!
Critical Hits!? That's right. Critical Hits are coming to Super Dungeon. Whenever you roll more than double the number of stars as your opponent (e.g.9 versus 4) you achieve a critical success. On offense you inflict an extra wound. On defense you turn the tables completely and inflict a wound upon the attacker.
The amethyst die rolls incredibly high on average. If you want to roll big numbers all the time the power of darkness is enticing. However, power comes at a price, whenever Shadow is rolled, the model making the roll suffers a wound. Ouch! Such is the danger of the Dark Realm.
But the new dice aren't just big numbers. New craftable equipment and wonders possess strange and unique powers that are only triggered when powered by Light or Shadow. It will be up to the cunning player to utilize these dice and their equipment wisely to achieve the greatest effect!
